BABY PHOTOGRAPHY – how to book the newborn session
The best time to do a newborn session is within the first 7-20 days of birth.
Babies are much sleepier in the first few weeks, which makes them more settled and calm, perfect for a newborn session.
STEP 1: Find the photographer who’s photography style you really like while you are still pregnant (1-6 months before the due date). You might choose between POSED newborn photography and LIFESTYLE newborn photography. If you are here it means that you like my (Monika Golebiowska Photography) organic/posed photography style 🙂
STEP 2: Contact the photographer in advance while you are still pregnant. Do not wait until the baby is born. Many photographers, including me, are booked out 1-2 months in advance.
STEP 3: If you like the photographer’s style, book the session. Look at the photographer’s Instagram, Facebook & website pages. This is what you are going to get. The photographer is not going to change her style according to your needs, so make sure you really like the images you see on their social medias. Many photographers have their own style, including me, and we are not going to change it for one session.
STEP 4: Book the session in advance! Okay I’ve said it before, but do you know how many parents I need to turn down? This is because I am fully booked 2-3 weeks in advance, and the parents contact me while their baby is 2 weeks old already. Remember, there is also a paper work which needs to be done before the session, so please allow the time for that also.
STEP 5: Pay the deposit, and I will book a tentative date now (your due date), and you will contact me asap when the baby arrives. I will schedule the session within two weeks from that date. Which means your newborn session (exact date) will be scheduled after the baby is born.
STEP 6: After paying the deposit, wait for an email from me with all the info regarding your newborn session. It is called a Prep Guide. Read it carefully. It includes all the information in order to prepare the baby and you for the newborn session (what to eat, or not to eat if breastfeeding, how to dress, how to interact with the baby before the session, and how much milk to bring (a lot :)) etc.)
STEP 7: Sit back, relax and enjoy your pregnancy! I’ve got you covered! You will have beautiful images and memories with your precious new baby which will last a lifetime.
